I'm thrilled to spotlight Margaret Miller's fine paintings
in June's Artist's Way column. Check out her other lovely artworks on her
new website.
With summer upon us, there's an abundance of fun to be had: trips to the
beach, late night movies, vacations; and not to mention keeping up with work
and the demands of daily life. All this fun and work takes energy. In this
issue we offer several ways to boost your energy naturally.
I'm also teaching my very first teleclass next week. My friend Lee Buderas
moved off to Florida and became a massage therapist. He called a few months
back to ask me the secrets to my success. This teleclass is my response: "Your
Fabulous Success System--Self, Service, and Success." The teleclass is free,
other than the long distance charges for the call. Once you've registered
for the class you simply call in to the conference center, enter your participant
# and listen to the class as you like. I'd love to have you join us.
Have a FAB summer!
Love your way,

Chopra Interview: Ruminating on Rumi, Love and the Ego |
Dr. Deepok Chopra is an endocrinologist-turned- spiritual-teacher. His best
selling books explore the synthesis of ancient spiritual traditions, quantum
physics, and cutting-edge medical theories and technologies. His latest work
is A Gift of Love— Deepak & Friends Present Music Inspired by the
Love Poems of Rumi. Deepak’s friends include Madonna, Demi Moore, Martin
Sheen, Rosa Parks, Robert A. F. Thurman, Coleman Barks, Goldie Hawn, and Blythe
Danner. The CD combines the celebrities reading the ecstatic Love poems of
the 13th century Persian poet Jalal-ud-Din Rumi coupled with modern world music
grooves. It’s an interesting combination. Dr. Chopra elaborates. “Rumi
is the foremost poet of ecstatic love. Our unfulfilled longings result in addiction
which, I believe, is the #1 problem in our culture today. And addiction is
just a second-class substitute for the experience of ecstasy.”
In his book The Way of Passion Andrew Harvey says of Rumi. “He is
the greatest of all mystic poets, and Easterners worship his work second
in grandeur, depth, mystery, and holiness only to the Koran. Through all
the centuries since his death and all the vicissitudes and tragedies of Moslem
history, his odes have been chanted by crowds on pilgrimages and sung with
the highest reverence in religious assemblies.”

Secrets of High-Energy People |
By Mira Kirshenbaum
Do they sleep 12 hours a day or run marathons? No. The most powerful energy
sources are in your soul, not your body. Learn how to create more joy and
meaning in your life.
"The single biggest difference between people who get what they want and
people who don't is energy," says Mira Kirshenbaum, psychotherapist and clinical
director of the Chestnut Hill Institute in Boston. In this excerpt from her
new book, The Emotional Energy Factor, she explains how to harness it so
you can live the life of your dreams. The best news? Unlike physical energy,
which is finite and diminishes with age, emotional energy is unlimited and
has nothing to do with genes or upbringing. So how do you get it? You can't
simply tell yourself to be positive. You must take action. Here are seven
practical strategies that work.
Simple Strategies
1. Do something genuinely new.
Very little that's new occurs in our lives. The impact of this sameness
on our emotional energy is gradual, but huge: It's like a tire with a slow
leak. You don't notice it at first, but eventually you'll get a flat. It's
up to you to plug the leak -- even though there are always a dozen reasons
to stay stuck in your rut. That's where Maura, 36, a waitress and would-be
caterer, found herself a year ago. Read

Energy expert Jon Gordon says give yourself a boost with
water, exercise, attitude
By CLAUDIA FELDMAN, The Houston Chronicle
Tired?
Silly question.
Americans, as a group, are exhausted and maybe most exhausted in January,
when all that's left of the holidays are bills, stale cookies and overwhelming
urges to nap.
Enter Jon Gordon, a self-described energy coach from Florida who has been
bounding around town the past few days. It would be easy enough to dismiss
Gordon, who in past lives ran restaurants, dropped in and out of law school,
worked in a wireless- technology biz and lost a city council race in Atlanta. Read

Energy Foods to Enhance Your Energy Now |
by Jon Gordon
Eating for energy means eating more whole organic foods that come from nature
and less processed foods. Below are just a few quick ideas to get you started.
These are taken from new my book The 10-Minute Energy Solution which contains
a large section on High-Energy Foods!
1. Avocados - They are high in fat, but it's the good monounsaturated fat.
Your brain and body need great sources of fat and research shows that we
actually need to eat the good fat to burn the bad fat. Avocados are also
a great source of folate, potassium, and fiber. Add a few slices to a sandwich
or make guacamole. Read

Modern Meditation with EFT |
by Patricia Carrington, Ph.D.
Some of you may know that before I became involved with EFT, I worked
extensively with the modern forms of meditation. I researched them, taught
them, wrote about them, and developed new methods for applying them. Clinical
meditation was the basis for my therapeutic work and that of my late husband,
Harmon S. Ephron, M.D., throughout the 1970’s and ‘80’s.
They laid the groundwork for my later involvement with energy psychology
methods, which of course are its cousins.
Recently, however, I met up with someone who was familiar with my training
methods and writing on meditation, and who asked me, naively, “Why
did you leave meditation for EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)? Do you
think EFT is that much better?”
I was taken aback by this question, I have never stopped meditating myself
nor ceased to recommend it to others whom I think would benefit from it.
It remains a major part of my practice as a clinical psychologist. Although
EFT has now become the center of my therapeutic work, the two methods combine
so naturally that I had scarcely noticed how much until I was asked this
question.

Where emotional relief brings physical health. Self help
method often works where nothing else will
By Gary Craig
EFT is a new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain,
diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is a unique version of acupuncture
except you don't use needles. Instead, you stimulate well established energy
meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The
process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere. It
launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which says...
"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy
system."
And because our physical pains and diseases are so obviously connected with
our emotions the following statement has also proven to be true... "Our unresolved
negative emotions are major contributors to most physical pains and diseases." Full
